Comments on "intelligent design 2"

New essay: Reflections on Dembski's "Vise Document". William Dembski, great white hope of the "Intelligent Design" movement, offers a lengthy series of questions that are supposed to expose the hypocrisy, stupidity, bigotry and general odiousness of those ghastly "Darwinists". I thought I'd try, er, exposing myself. The results don't embarrass me as much as I think Dembski thinks they ought to. Have I no shame?

Update: I posted this comment on Dembski's blog:

I'm not really representative of the intended victims of the "Vise", but I'm what you call a "Darwinist" and after running through all your questions I don't seem to have been exposed as a bigoted extremist, a condescending elitist, or a closet ID theorist. Details are at http://homepage.ntlworld.com/g.mccaughan/g/essays/dembski-vise.html (warning: contains uncomplimentary comments about ID).

Eight hours or so later, my comment has been made invisible from all IP addresses but my own. In other words: deleted silently, and in such a way as to make it less likely that I'll notice. I only thought to check because I've heard of such things happening before there.

I think that answers the question of just how anxious Dembski is to have answers to his questions.
