Comments on "electrical emergency"

I was recently in a hotel in California. On a cabinet door there, I saw this notice:

ELECTRICAL
EMERGENCY
GENERATOR

I wonder whether there was a switch inside with settings for "Total blackout", "Lightning storm" and "Electromagnetic pulse".
