yum

Three lovely new books today.

Amazon UK's page for the first of those (Donald Knuth's 3:16, an application of stratified sampling to Bible study illuminated by some wonderful calligraphy) has an alleged synopsis that begins

Subtitled, Who's who at the leading US trade and professional associations , this Summer 1991 volume is the first issue.

And the last one (The SIAM 100-Digit Challenge) is listed as being "hard to find" and taking 4-6 weeks. Elapsed time from ordering it at Amazon US until arrival: 7 days. And it was cheaper that way, and would still have been if it had been the only thing in the order. What are these people thinking?
